Technology firm swoops for Yorkshire expansion

ICT provider Innov8 Technology has today announced the acquisition of Viking Management Systems of Pocklington.

The deal has been reached for an undisclosed sum and extends the firm’s geographical reach from the North West into Yorkshire.

Since the acquisition, Innov8, a top three UK Sage 200 business partner based in Stockport, has integrated the Viking business and both of its shareholder/executives have retired as planned.  Innov8 and Viking will continue to operate under their individual brand names.

Commenting on the acquisition, Carl Maher, commercial director of Innov8, said: “We have always admired Viking. It has an exceptional reputation in the Sage ecosystem and there are many synergies we share. We are delighted to bring Viking into the Innov8 Technology Group, and proud to say that both businesses have been operating as normal, delivering the same exceptional level of service to our customers. We are excited about the future of Innov8 as we continue plans to expand across the UK.”

Corporate finance advisers, Grant Thornton facilitated the sale of Viking to Innov8.

Paul Barnett, former managing director, Viking, said: “We have always respected Innov8 and believe we share a similar set of values. We wish Carl and his team well.”

Chris Archer, corporate finance director at Grant Thornton Yorkshire, said: “Innov8 is a great example of a business recognising its market strengths and having the ambition to expand its geographical footprint through the acquisition of a company with a similar reputation and values.

“It has been a privilege to support the Viking shareholders on this transaction – we wish them well for the future.”

The sale of Viking to Innov8 was also supported by Gosschalks Solicitors, Hull.
