Work on £3m home development commences

Work has started on a £3m development of 29 new homes in Byram, which sits between Selby and Castleford, that will be exclusively for the rentals market.

East Acres has been designed by Leeds based Brewster Bye Architects, with Strategic Team Group developing and constructing the properties on behalf of Home Group, one of the UK’s largest providers of high quality housing and supported housing services.

The development, due for completion in June 2018, will consist of a range of one, two, three and four bedroom houses.  A new access road will be incorporated into the development, as well as shared mews courts.

Will Gardner, director of development at Home Group, said: “This site will provide an opportunity for individuals and families to rent a brand new and affordable property, in a highly sought after area.  Because of the area’s popularity there’s a shortage of available homes and this scheme will help to address that, and contribute to our objective of building 10,000 new homes by 2021.”

Andy Watson, managing director at Strategic Team Group added: “This land led scheme is right on our doorstep and we are delighted to be working in partnership again with Home Group and our framework architects Brewster Bye. Not only will the development address local housing needs but it will also create excellent opportunities for employment and skills development in the Selby area.”
