Christmas markets set to open for the festive season

Leeds Christkindelmarkt is one of the most established German Christmas Markets in the UK, with traditional wooden stalls and festive greenery.  This year it will feature over 40 traditionally decorated wooden chalet stalls selling seasonal gifts, toys decorations and  German food and drink.

The German market will be open daily from 10.30am to 9.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10.30am to 7.30pm on Sundays. In respect of Remembrance Day commemorations, the market will not open until 12pm on Sunday 12 November.

Sheffield’s Christmas market has grown from a handful of cabins on the main shopping area of Sheffield to an entire christmas experience of 50 cabins. Santas Grotto is at the heart of the event with the much loved Sleigh Bar and the traditional German Sausage grill.

The Christmas cabins cover Fargate, Town Hall Square and Peace Gardens with fantastic Christmas gifts, and lots of seasonal food and drink. Opening on Wednesday 15 November and running through to Christmas Eve, the market will open 10am-6pm Sundays to Wednesdays and 10am-8pm Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays.

The Hull Christmas Festival is also set to get underway. City-wide activities are planned for this year, as part of its UK Capital of Culture status.

This will include Thor’s Tipi bar from 16 November, the official Christmas lights switch on taking place on 23 November, performances throughout the month including Kate Rusby at Christmas and Hull Christmas food street nights on Princes Dock Street on 14 and 15 December.
