Investigation into Sheffield insolvency firm abandoned

Investigators have stopped their pursuit of partners at a collapsed Sheffield insolvency firm after deciding there would be insufficient evidence to prosecute allegations of a multi-million-pound fraud.
P & A Partnership, a Sheffield-based insolvency firm which took on administrations including those of several football clubs, had been accused overcharging creditors of several of businesses, resulting in multi-million-pound fee fraud.
An Insolvency Service spokesperson said: “It has been decided to end the criminal investigation relating to The P & A Partnership and, on the information currently available, the Insolvency Service does not intend taking any further action.
“After a thorough investigation, the view has been taken that the continuation of the investigation is unlikely to lead to the gathering of sufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction in the event of a prosecution being brought.”
P and A Partnership went into administration in 2015 and was acquired by Begbies Trayner. They have been approached for comment.
It is understood that Grant Thornton is looking into other businesses which could have been overcharged by P and A Partnership.
