New retail brands sign up to 350,000 sq ft retail and leisure destination, The Springs

Four new retailers are set to make the move to the newly opened 350,000 sq ft retail and leisure destination at Thorpe Park Leeds, known as The Springs.

Fat Face, the lifestyle clothing and accessories retailer, has agreed a lease at the site taking a 3,400 sq ft unit; JD Sports, the trainer and sports fashion retailer, has signed a lease for 5,450 sq ft of space; and Mountain Warehouse, the outdoor clothing and equipment retailer, has taken 5,000 sq ft of space.

Alongside this, Card Factory has also signed a lease for 1,100 sq ft of space at The Springs.

The new retailers will join other confirmed brands including H&M, Nando’s, M&S, Next, TK Maxx, Outfit, Boots, Odeon and Pure Gym.

The leases were secured by Scarborough International Properties Limited (SIPL), the UK and international real estate developer and its joint venture partner Legal & General.

Simon Marshall, joint chief executive of Scarborough International Properties, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming these new retailers to The Springs at Thorpe Park Leeds.

“To have such well-known names commit to the centre provides a huge vote of confidence in the scheme, which has already attracted a variety of well-known retailers and restaurants.”

Rachel Dickie, head of urban regeneration at Legal & General Capital, added: “It is fantastic to see further well-known brands come to The Springs, our new retail and leisure destination, at Thorpe Park Leeds. Thorpe Park Leeds is really coming to life as a unique and progressive mixed-use community.”

Thorpe Park Leeds comprises 800,000 sq ft of development built and occupied to date, including 600,000 sq ft of offices. A £162m investment deal with Legal & General Capital in 2015 secured a transformational 1.35 million sq ft mixed-use expansion.

Phase two includes the 350,000 sq ft retail and leisure park, as well as a further 900,000 sq ft of Grade A office accommodation, 300 new residential homes by Redrow and a 113-acre public park with sports facilities.

Phase two also features the delivery of the first section of the ‘East Leeds Orbital Road’, which will connect north and east Leeds to Junction 46 of the M1. This road will unlock land for the construction of up to 7,000 new homes in the East Leeds area, land that is either already allocated in the Local Plan or which is ‘brownfield’ land.
