Residential scheme gets the go ahead after successful planning appeal

Planning permission has been secured for a new residential development in Scarborough after a property firm successfully appealed against the borough council.

Property firm Gascoines Group were seeking to secure planning permission for a new residential development in Burniston, Scarborough.

Flood risk and drainage were the key issues in dispute, with the local planning authority refusing permission and defending the appeal. The inspector concluded Scarborough Borough Council’s refusal was unreasonable and awarded full costs in favour of Gascoines.

The development site was allocated in the up to date development plan for the Council and the grant of permission by the Inspector will now allow the site to make a material contribution to delivering much needed market and affordable housing in the district.

Walker Morris planning and environment specialist, Alison Ogley, acted for Gascoines.
