More than 220 new homes set for £60m development

Plans have been unveiled for a 224 new homes development on a former power station site in Wakefield.

Housebuilder Avant Homes will deliver the £60m development on a 17.5-acre parcel of land, which forms part of the wider City Fields development.

Located just off the A6194 and close to the M1, proposals include a selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes.

Subject to planning permission, work is set to commence in July with the overall build expected to take three-and-a-half years. The show village will be completed by August and the first properties ready for occupation towards the end of 2019.

Rob Slocombe, Avant Homes Yorkshire managing director, said: “We’re very pleased to have secured this prime piece of land which will not only deliver innovative and design-led homes but will also bring a significant number of local jobs along with millions of pounds of investment into the region.

“There’s real demand for high-quality homes in the area, which this new development will provide. With its location just outside the city centre, proximity to Leeds and excellent transport links, we’re anticipating high levels of interest as we bring our widest choice of homes yet to West Yorkshire.”
