BHP to sponsor new York 10K Corporate Challenge

BHP, Yorkshire’s largest independent firm of Chartered accountants, are to sponsor the new Corporate Challenge in which companies will compete for the title of fastest firm at the York 10K.

The BHP Corporate Challenge is a new addition to the popular 10K, which will attract thousands of runners to the city on Sunday 4th August.

A race within a race, teams taking part in the Challenge must have at least five members with the times of the first three home used to calculate the winners.

Organised by not-for-profit company Run For All, for which TheBusinessDesk.com is a media partner, the York 10K is one of the region’s biggest charity road runs and since its launch in 2009 over 50,000 people have taken part, helping to raise over £2.5m for good causes.

Daniel Sowden, Partner at BHP, which has offices in York, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the first York 10K Corporate Challenge, which will benefit the work of some excellent charities as well as injecting a bit of friendly inter-firm rivalry into the event.

“We have a large charity specialist offering in the York area as well as services such as assurance, advisory, corporate finance and tax, therefore sponsoring this event is a perfect fit.”

BHP entered a 41-strong team in last year’s event and sponsored the VIP area.

Nicola Christian, Sponsorship and Corporate Manager, of Run For All, said: “We are enormously grateful to BHP for choosing to sponsor our new York 10K Corporate Challenge. It’s a great way for a company’s staff to get fitter, support a good cause and engage in a bit of useful networking.”
