Housebuilder snaps up 1.1 hectare site

A housebuilder has acquired a 1.1 hectare site in Rotherham.

Jones Homes is planning to build 24 houses on land at Carr Holme off Winney Hill, including with six affordable homes.

Planning permission for the development, which involves the demolition of an existing bungalow on the site, was granted by Rotherham  Council in November last year.

As part of the planning agreement for the development, Jones Homes will be contributing around £89,000 towards the improvement of infrastructure and facilities in the Harthill area.

The figure includes a sustainable transport contribution of £12,000 and a Community Infrastructure Levey (CIL) of £77,000.

David Ruffley, Regional Director of Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “Our vision for Harthill is to build a development that fits in with the local area and meets the needs of local buyers.

“We aim to add to the area with a development that is attractive, both in terms of its character and its appearance.

“We have taken advice from the local authority throughout the planning process on how best to achieve this. The hallmark Jones Homes quality and specification will contribute to the creation of new homes that people will aspire to live in.”

Work is now underway at the development and a sales centre is due to open on site during the summer.
