Construction hub launches tender process for £2bn framework

The Yorkshire public sector construction hub YORhub has published an EU advert for £2bn of major civil engineering works for projects worth more than £10m.

The YORcivil2 framework saw commitments from local authorities throughout Yorkshire and the Humber to deliver their large scale infrastructure projects through the scheme.

Everything from maintenance to infrastructure, flood alleviation schemes and transport hubs will be included.

Tenders are to be returned in early June 2019 and the framework awarded by September 2019. Eight contractors will be appointed.

YORhub is managed by five authorities on behalf of the region, namely the East Riding of Yorkshire, Leeds, Sheffield, Rotherham and Scarborough.

A statement from YORhub said: “YORhub represents a great example of how frameworks can deliver social value through procurement including delivery of employment and skills plans being contractual, a social value fund that has supported over 80 community projects, and initiatives with the Yorkshire Wildlife
Trust.

“It has a well-established Supply Chain Engagement Programme that organises project specific and framework events; at the last framework event more than 400 sub-contractors met with 37 YORhub main contractors.”
