Land acquired for Rotherham residential development

Housebuilder Jones Homes has acquired 5.8 hectares of land in Rotherham for its latest residential development.

The Cleckheaton-headquartered company is planning on building 144 new homes in Thorpe Hesley, located four miles from Rotherham.

The development, off Upper Wortley Road, will generate almost £725,000 of investment in local infrastructure and services, said the company. Homes will go on sale by the end of the year.

Jones Homes will build three, four and five-bedroom homes as part of the plans. Fourteen of the properties will be designated as starter homes for first-time buyers.

David Ruffley, regional director of Jones Homes Yorkshire, said: “Thorpe Hesley is a popular village, which is a great place to live, work and commute from.

“Jones Homes has a strong heritage in South Yorkshire and Thorpe Hesley is a location which we know will appeal to our customers.

“Our research shows that there is high demand in the area for attractive homes of excellent quality. Jones Homes will build to the high standards on which we have built our reputation.”

He added: “The new homes have been designed to echo architectural features from dwellings elsewhere in the village to ensure the development sits comfortably in its surroundings.

“The contributions we are making through our planning obligations will ensure the necessary infrastructure is in place so the village will be well-equipped to cope with this steady growth.”
