Insurance business expands its presence across the county

An insurance firm established in Halifax 35 years ago has increased its reach across West Yorkshire.

Wilby Insurance Brokers are combining their talents with experts at the Lorica Insurance Brokers office in Leeds. Both are part of PIB Group, and the Lorica team in Leeds will now be trading as Wilby.

Both Wilby and Lorica joined the PIB Group in 2018, and said the latest move was designed to further strengthen the local expertise available for business owners, charities, social enterprises and the leisure sector.

Richard Blackburn, MD for Wilby, said: “Following our decision to join PIB Group last year there has been an obvious opportunity to join forces with the Lorica Leeds office.

“We’re delighted to retain the existing team, are keen to grow significantly the size of the business and are actively searching for quality individuals to join the team.

“The office will also allow us to provide a more local presence for the existing clients that Wilby have in Leeds.”

Wilby’s specialisms include property, manufacturing, cyber, care, motor trade and holiday park insurance.

Its Leeds team will be led by Wilby Director Mike Shaw, who has lived in the area for many years.

Shaw said: “This is an exciting time and another important milestone in our journey.

“We’re looking forward to working together as one team, while ensuring clients will still receive the same friendly and professional service they’ve come to expect from both brands.”
