Apartments scheme for landmark market place building

Work has begun on the redevelopment of a Ripon city centre building, which will see eight luxurious apartments created at Burton Chambers.

ARBA Property Group has appointed Royd Developments to carry out the transformational work above the Specsavers store in Market Place West, which was originally occupied by Burton Tailors.

Overlooking the historic market square, the building was acquired by ARBA Property Group in spring 2018. Planning was granted earlier this year for the development company to strip out the two upper floors and deliver the apartments.

With their own private entrance at the front of the building, facing the market place, there will be eight one and two-bed apartments across the two upper floors. All the homes will have contemporary finishes and early interested parties will have a choice of bathroom and kitchen designs. There is also private, secure parking to the rear of the property, which can be bought separately, and the top floor apartments will have roof terraces.

The apartments will be ready for occupation by October and are being marketed by Dacre, Son & Hartley in Ripon.

Senior associate and area manager, Chris O’Mahony from Dacres, said: “The apartments are priced from £149,950 and enjoy an excellent location in the heart of Ripon. The city’s rich history and the vibrant market place make it a popular location for buyers from across the country, with easy access to Harrogate, York, Leeds, and the A1.

“The high specification of these apartments, together with the building’s attractive façade and the option of electric gated secure parking mean the properties will appeal to a range of buyers wanting the convenience of having all the city’s varied amenities on their doorstep. They are also attracting interest from investors keen to let them out long-term and as holiday lets.”
