Engineering firm enters administration

Sheffield-Based Eadie Industries, which trades as Ewen Engineering, went into administration yesterday.

The company employs 17 people and specialises in the manufacture and testing of precision products, ranging from discreet components to full assemblies. It said the cost of investing in technologies necessary to compete, plus the loss of key contracts, had taken their toll on its business.

No redundancies have been made.

Established in the 1970s, the firm earned a reputation for delivering high quality products, using the latest technologies and had become a preferred supplier to some of the world’s leading industry names.

It is based on the Tinsley Industrial Estate and its products include precision turned parts and master brake cylinders, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic assemblies.

The Joint Administrators are Louise Freestone and Paul Mallatratt of Bridgewood Financial Solutions. They said they would continue to trade the business as a going concern, while options for its future are assessed including a potential sale.

Freestone said: “Ewen Engineering has a skilled workforce delivering specialist components to a very high standard. Given this pedigree we are hopeful that a buyer can be found.”
