Morrisons chairman lined up for top premiership rugby post

The chairman of Wm Morrison, the Bradford-headquartered supermarket chain, is being lined up to chair English rugby’s top domestic league according to reports this morning.
Sky News has reported that Andrew Higginson – who is a former board member at the English Rugby Football Union – has been nominated to chair Premiership Rugby Limited.
It is expected the hiring of a high profile corporate name as its chairman will demonstrate the intent of CVC Capital Partners, the league’s new investor, to forge a new commercial path for the sport.
Higginson joined Morrisons in 2015 having previously spending 15 years at Tesco, including 11 as finance director.
He has also worked at leading consumer goods producers including Unilever and Guinness.
