People: Business development manager appointed at construction firm; Trio promoted at solicitors; and more

Construction firm Morris & Spottiswood has strengthened its team in the ’Northern Powerhouse’ region with the appointment of a new business development manager.

Charlotte Glover has joined the business, which specialises in refurbishment, fit-out and mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering, in a position intended to drive fit-out and refurbishment projects within the north of England.

She has worked in the construction industry for the last five years, bringing with her experience of working across construction services including fitout and M&E.

Glover will work for the company’s Fit-out England division, operating from its offices in Warrington and Leeds.

The appointment aligns with Glasgow-headquartered Morris & Spottiswood’s ten-year strategy to grow its group turnover to £150m by 2026.

Chief executive John Dunwell said the appointment was part of a strategy to build on success the business has already enjoyed in the region.

He said: “Fitout England has a clear strategy for sustained growth in the north of England.

“Our strategy has been bolstered by recent framework wins with Pagabo, Crown Commercial Services and Procure North West (Lite) and the delivery of high calibre projects such as Sky Garden in Leeds city centre.

“Charlotte brings with her an enviable amount of connections and a wealth of knowledge in the construction sector, which we believe will help us continue to drive forward, building trust and repeat business.”

Glover, who came to Morris & Spottiswood through existing relationships, will primarily focus the Manchester and Leeds areas.

She will concentrate on the private sector with the aim of securing commercial office contracts, drawing on the contacts she already has in the north whilst also supporting the public sector pipeline.

She said: “I know Morris & Spottiswood has a great reputation with a strong pedigree and back catalogue of projects, so I knew this would be a great place to work.

“The company’s strength in Scotland is being replicated in England, and I look forward to contributing to the growth of the company in the Northern Powerhouse region.”

Yorkshire estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley has made a double appointment at its Guiseley office as part of the company’s commitment to developing the future talent of the property industry.

Harry Pollard has been appointed as a sales negotiator and Molly Fieldhouse joins the office’s lettings division as a trainee lettings negotiator.

Pollard, who lives in Otley, will now support the office’s existing sales team, as well as accompanying buyers on viewings and assisting with marketing appraisals.

He brings a wealth of previous sales and customer service experience to the role and as part of his training, Dacre, Son & Hartley will support him in becoming accredited by the National Federation of Property Professionals and studying for the organisation’s qualifications.

Fieldhouse, who lives in Yeadon, has spent the last two years working in luxury hotels in French ski resorts, but a keen interest in property, fuelled by her family owning several rental properties, led her to pursue a career in this sector.

She will now embark on Dacre, Son & Hartley’s in-house training programme before having the opportunity to complete several industry recognised qualifications.

Richard Hare, who heads Dacre, Son & Hartley’s Guiseley office, said: “We’ve significantly increased our market share this year and now rent and sell homes throughout Guiseley, as well as in the likes of Carlton, Hawksworth, Esholt, Rawdon, Yeadon, Apperley Bridge and Calverley.

“Harry and Molly joining the team will enable us to meet this increasing market demand.

“They both have strong local knowledge and are determined to succeed in the industry, so we’re delighted to be investing in enthusiastic new talent and bringing forward the estate agents of the future.”
