What is your favourite place to visit and why?

Castle Howard is a regular haunt of mine because it is lovely in all seasons. It’s a fantastic place for everything from camping with the family, visiting the house, going to an event or taking the kids to Skelf island. It’s a great day out and practically on our doorstep.

What is still on your “to do” list in the region?

The York marathon. So far, I’ve done the Yorkshire three Peaks and York ten miler, so that’s the next challenge to conquer.

Worst experience or thing about Yorkshire?

Landing at Leeds Bradford, as it is always an abrupt end to a lovely holiday.

What is the one thing that you would steal from another part of the country?

I wouldn’t necessarily steal but I would like to retain talent in Yorkshire rather than the current ‘brain drain’ down to the South. There are so many opportunities here and it’s important we have the talent to fill them.

What is the most overrated thing about Yorkshire?

One of the main points that people tend to bring up when discussing Yorkshire is its size, but it really isn’t the best thing about it. There is so much more diversity and culture within the county that can be celebrated instead of how large it is.
