Shopping centre reports footfall growth in 2019

Scarborough’s Brunswick shopping centre has reported a year-on-year increase in footfall of more than 12.4% for 2019.

The seaside centre enjoyed a particularly buoyant festive trading period with footfall 25.2% up against the same period in 2018.

And in line with the positive growth in footfall, the centre’s retailers have reported solid trading performances.

Sue Anderson Brown, centre manager at Brunswick, said: “2019 has been a great success for Brunswick with shoppers continuing to visit and spend in our centre. We are pleased to have created so many exciting community partnerships at the centre and look forward to welcoming more exciting initiatives throughout 2020.”

She noted that in 2019 the shopping centre had refreshed its look with new interiors, staff uniforms and customer signage.

At the same time it refocused its community commitment: installing foodbank donation stations, running charity partnerships, staging local artist exhibitions and launching a ping pong parlour in partnership with Table Tennis England to encourage activity and participation in sport.

Brunswick is owned by M&G Real Estate and managed by CBRE. Leasing agents on the scheme are Savills and Rawson Johnstone.
