Thai street food brand to launch another restaurant

Sukho Restaurant Group is set to open its fifth Zaap Thai Street Food site in Headingley, Leeds.

Following the successful launch of its fourth site in York last year, Zaap Headingley will open on St Annes Road, at the site currently occupied by Sukhothai. Zaap Thai and Sukhothai are both part of Sukho Restaurant Group.

Sukhothai Headingley will close on March 22 2020, with Zaap opening in mid-April after a short fit out.

Sukho Restaurant Group founder, Ban Kaewkraikhot, said: “Over the last 13 years since we launched Sukhothai Headingley, we have seen our industry evolve in a rapid way.

“We believe the time is right for Sukhothai Headingley to undergo a re-brand. We have seen a move away from traditional dining, with more and more diners wanting a casual dining experience.

“We are really thankful to our loyal customers at Sukhothai Headingley, some of whom have been regular diners over the past 13 years, and we hope to see them embrace the new, casual and fun dining experience that is Zaap.”

The new restaurant will be unrecognisable as guests can expect Thai-inspired graffiti, funky tuk tuk seating booths and neon lighting.

Thai street food classics will include the Massaman Curry and fiery Pad Ga Prao. Zaap will offer a range of lunch menus and daily deals, which will change on a monthly basis.
