Landmark hotel reopens for business

A prominent Sheffield hotel has re-opened its doors.

Formerly the Sheffield Hilton, The Quays Hotel, operated by Legacy Hotels & Resorts, is a Best Western plus hotel, at Victoria Quays in the Canal Basin area.

Legacy, an independent UK hotel management companies, has taken a few months to re-open the four-star hotel and leisure club after its sudden closure late last year.

Following the completion of recruitment plans, the hotel is welcoming back 35% previous staff out of a total of 60 full time employees.

The property, which originally opened under the ownership and branding of Stakis Hotels, features 128 bedrooms, a spa with a gym and swimming pool, meeting spaces and is home to the Quays Restaurant.

Situated on Furnival Road, at Victoria Quays, close to the historic railway arches, the building is a well-known feature on the city skyline.

New operators, Legacy Hotels & Resorts, is a privately owned, hotel management company with a substantial portfolio of trading hotels and an active development pipeline of branded and independent guestrooms throughout the UK, Spain and Scandinavia representing around 3,300 guestrooms.

Legacy Hotels & Resorts chief executive, Andy Townsend, said: “The Quays joins the Best Western group of hotels across the UK where it becomes a Best Western Plus hotel.
