Growing market prompts expansion at surfacing and civil engineering firm
Doncaster-based surfacing, drainage and civil engineering firm, NMC Group has grown its business by establishing a specialist coatings service for outdoor ground applications.
The additional service is designed to bolster the Group’s UK position in providing turnkey solutions for outside surfacing requirements. NMC says it should open up “significant opportunities” for it extend its offering to both existing and new clients.
NMC Specialist Coatings provides solutions for waterproofing, street art and aesthetic asphalt for roads, car parks, walkways and other public spaces.
An NMC spokesman explained: “This investment responds to a growing market from both existing and new NMC customers with multi storey and roof level car parking, offering more durable and watertight resins and mastic asphalt using state of the art technology.
“It also offers new capabilities in decorative surface printing through pre-formed graphics and imprinted patterns for creative paving. The aesthetic asphalt application responds to requirements for more bespoke and attractive applications for public spaces and walkways where more decorative systems and anti-slip coatings is possible.”
NMC Specialist Coatings is being headed by industry expert Robert Gourlay. He has joined NMC Group from Eurovia Specialist Treatments, where he was responsible for delivering high-profile projects including the £2m surfacing contract for the Olympic Park prior to the 2012 Games.
Gourlay has over 20 years of industry experience, and for four years he chaired the High Friction Surfacing Committee (HFSC), part of the Road Surface Treatment Association.

NMC Group predominantly serves the retail, commercial and leisure market but also provides surfacing solutions to high risk petrochemical, industrial, healthcare and education sectors. Its clients include Tesco, Sainsburys, McArthurGlen and BP.
The Group also offers civil engineering, draining, line marking and surveying services.
