Modern take on back-to-back living coming to city centre

Sky-House, a 21st century take on traditional back-to-back living, is set to come to Sheffield city centre.

A pre application document has been prepared for Sheffield Council by CODA Architecture on behalf of Sky-House Company, in support of the redevelopment of land on Egerton Street, between Devonshire Green and Charter Row.

The site, currently occupied by the now vacant former Stokes Tiles warehouse would be developed for 54 Sky-House properties, including 30 three bedroom homes and 24 one bedroom apartments.

The Sky-House version of the Victorian back-to-back house, created by the architects at Sheffield’s CODA Studios, includes such features as bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, open plan kitchen/diners and a private roof gardens accessed from a private study area.

Sky-House Co was founded by CODA chairman David Cross and property developer Philip Prince of Broadfield Holdings.

“The Sky-House story simply continues to gather momentum as we unveil each new site,” said Cross.

“Having seen the first phase of our Waverley development completely sold out, we have then been overwhelmed by the interest in our Oughtibridge site to the north of Sheffield.

“Egerton Street will bring Sky-House right to the heart of city living and would be an ideal location to add to the growing number of residential schemes in Sheffield city centre.

“We are very excited to be preparing to deliver the Sky-House brand to the centre of Sheffield with a project that will deliver a true family housing development and one that could bring real sense of regeneration too.

“Sky-House has been one of the industry’s most talked about and applauded concepts and one that is going to make an impact at every site.

“We are confident that, following the success of the Waverley development. Sheffield councillors will look favourably on the Egerton Street proposal and recognise its value in bringing new life into Sheffield city centre.”
