Head of Kings Chambers appointed Justice of the High Court

Barristers’ set Kings Chambers has announced that the Queen has approved the appointment of Nigel Poole QC as a Justice of the High Court (Family Division).

Nigel Poole QC has been head of chambers since March 2017 at the set which operates out of chambers in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. His appointment will commence on October 1.

The news means Nigel Poole will now be known as The Honourable Mr Justice Poole.

Deputy head of chambers, Paul Tucker QC, said: “Nigel has had a very distinguished career at the bar spanning some 30 years.

“He joined Kings Chambers in 2004 and has been a highly respected and popular colleague.

“We are all immensely grateful for his tireless work as our head of chambers which he carried out with his usual professionalism, integrity and courtesy.

“All members and staff warmly congratulate him on his deserved appointment and wish him well in his new role.”

Nigel Poole QC was called to the Bar in 1989 and took Silk in 2012.

He was appointed as a Recorder in 2009 and as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2017.

He was a Chair of the Bar Tribunal and Adjudication Service from 2013–2020.

Kings Chambers boasts 124 members including 22 silks.
