New speaker confirmed for sustainability conference

In the Circle, a Yorkshire based business which seeks to promoted the business and environmental benefits of sustainability has secured a keynote speaker for its inaugural event in Leeds.

Attendees to the event, which was previously scheduled for autumn 2020 and has now moved to 19 May 2021 at Leeds New Dock Hall, will hear from Ashley Cooper, a photographer and explorer who has spent the last 15 years travelling to every corner of the globe creating the most comprehensive photographic recording of the effects of global warming and climate change.

Cooper who has received plaudits from famous environmentalist Sir David Attenborough, the Pope and actress Emma Thompson, recently published a book of his favourite photo’s, titled Images from a warming planet as he wanted to share his experiences. He has now chosen to work with In the Circle to help them highlight the need for everyone, and all businesses, to act sustainably to help reverse the effects of a warming planet.

Alec Walton, CEO at In the Circle commented “Having a diverse mix of speakers at our Leeds conference will hopefully inspire the business leaders of Yorkshire to tackle business sustainability. Ashley’s is an inspirational man, whose selfless efforts show what can be done by just one individual. If, as business men and women, we can all be encouraged to make small changes to our businesses to ensure they are more sustainable, we will make a real difference”.

Cooper now joins other confirmed speakers including Mike Barry, the former director of sustainable business at M&S, professor of environmental policy Andy Gouldson from the University of Leeds, and Gordon Rogers, head of Sustainability at Yorkshire Water.

The conference which is sponsored by Squire Patton Boggs, Planet U, and Music Magpie, was forced to move its date for the physical event as a result of Covid-19, with the inaugural Leeds conference now taking place physically and virtually in May 2021. Itwill feature more than 30 speakers and 50 exhibitors sharing best practice plans and initiatives to support all businesses to build and develop their own sustainability policies. This will then be followed by conferences at the NEC in Birmingham and at Manchester Central later in the year.

TheBusinessDesk.com is the official media partner for all of the In the Circle sustainability conferences, and will be bringing the latest news and thought leadership from the industry leaders in attendance and from the show floor.
