£2.9m investment to provide specialist care home

Nursing care provider, Exemplar Health Care, has begun refurbishing its second state-of-the-art home in Hull, which is due to open in April 2021.

Exemplar Health Care’s new ‘Marmaduke’ home is receiving a £2.9m worth of investment, which will provide specialist nursing care for 18 residents and will generate around 80 jobs for those in the surrounding Hull area.

Once completed, Marmaduke’s 18 large bedrooms – each with an en-suite wet room – will provide ground floor living for adults living with dementia, acquired brain injury, complex mental health conditions and physical disabilities.

The home will be surrounded by a sensory garden and include a communal hub, living and dining spaces for residents and their friends and family to socialise.

The Marmaduke care home is a complete refurbishment of the building previously known as the Marmaduke Health Centre.

Charlotte Lloyd, commissioning home director for Marmaduke, said: “I’m delighted to announce the refurbishment of the previous Marmaduke Health Centre in Hull into a new complex needs care home.

“We know the Hull area well, having our existing home, St Andrews Court, located in west of Hull, near Gipsyville and know that there’s a demand for a high-quality specialist nursing home in the area.

“We’ve worked closely with the Clinical Commissioning Groups and local authorities and are proud to bring this one-of-a-kind facility to Hull, to enable local people who have suffered an accident, or are living with complex needs, to live close to home, regain their independence and everyday living skills, and move back into their homes in the community.

“It has always been our policy to build our homes in the heart of local communities so people can remain close to their loved ones whilst receiving the specialist care that they need and deserve.”
