Major order extends pet care company’s reach across Irish Sea

Yorkshire-based Sniffers Pet Care has secured a major order with Petmania that will see its range of healthy dog treats in stores throughout Ireland.

Twelve stores across the country will stock the Sniffers range in the company’s first venture into the Irish market.

Sniffers, a family-run business with headquarters in Huddersfield, currently distributes a wide range of products to around 700 pet care stores across the UK, from independent traders to Pets At Home.

Included in the order is Sniffers’ Bow Wow range of heathy snacks in addition to Monster Chocs, a range of dog-friendly chocolate, and Buffalo Natural Dog Treats, Sniffers’ recently launched own brand of products.

The Buffalo range expanded in September 2019 to include a shelf-ready range of 14 different products. The treats are a healthy alternative to traditional rewards, made from free range buffalo which is leaner than beef or pork.

The range will be sold by Petmania, the largest pet specialist retailer in Ireland, employing around 200 people in its stores and distribution centre.

Sinffers has enjoyed a 25% year-on-year increase in turnover, following a move to its current 6,250 sq ft home at Bridge Business Park in Huddersfield in January 2019.

Company MD, Simon Brown, said the latest contract would significantly raise the business’s profile.

He added: “This is our first foray into Ireland with our dog treat range and we’re very excited.

“The demand for healthy dog treats is increasing, with more pet owners becoming more aware than ever of the need to healthy not always indulgent choices for their pets.”

Emily Miller, marketing manager at Petmania, said: “We’re really excited to introduce the Sniffers range of dog treats into Petmania’s stores.”
