Property group builds coffee chain’s latest drive-thru outlet
Harworth Group, a regenerator of land and property for development and investment, has completed the construction of a Costa drive-thru at its Advantage House headquarters in Rotherham.
Costa has entered into a 15-year lease with Harworth on the 1,800 sq ft unit, built by HP Construction on Harworth’s behalf.
The unit is designed to be in keeping with buildings at Harworth’s flagship Advanced Manufacturing Park (AMP) nearby, home to leading organisations including Boeing, Rolls-Royce, McLaren Automotive and the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
Completion of this unit follows a busy period for Harworth’s Building Delivery team.
In early October it practically completed the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s 22,300 sq ft nuclear fusion technology research facility at the AMP two weeks ahead of schedule, with the authority taking a 20-year lease.
This was followed in late October by the company finishing the construction of another Costa drive-thru at its Riverdale Park scheme in Doncaster as the regeneration of the former McCormick Tractor Factory progresses, with Costa taking a 15 year lease on this unit.
Harworth has also recently announced that it has appointed Caddick Construction to build the last unit at Logistics North in Bolton, the North West’s largest live industrial development.
Work has now begun on a 50,800 sq ft speculative unit, part-funded through a £3m loan from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Evergreen fund.
Tim Powner, asset manager at Harworth, said: “Completing three recent builds on-time and on-budget is a real credit to Harworth and its contractors during these unprecedented times.
“We look forward to supporting Costa to be as successful as possible on both South Yorkshire sites.”
Caroline Midgley, acquisition manager at Costa, added: “We are delighted to have worked with Harworth on the delivery of two drive thrus in key target areas as part of our ongoing expansion plans in Yorkshire and throughout the UK.
“We look forward to hopefully working together in the future to deliver further stores.”
