Headcount doubles at property technology company

Sheffield-based tenant referencing platform Vouch has doubled the size of its team during the pandemic, growing from 11 members of staff to 23 after the Covid-19 outbreak sparked a surge in demand.

The company was founded in Sheffield in 2017 by local letting agents Simon Tillyer and wife Jaime.

Against the backdrop of the pandemic, Vouch has experienced a spike in interest as property professionals seek digital solutions to the challenges presented by the virus.

This is due, in part, to Government-enforced social distancing measures designed to contain the virus, which have caused delays and complications for letting agents attempting to retrieve information from tenants via traditional channels.

Vouch digitises the referencing process, making it fit for a socially distanced world.

The platform also provides clients with additional, tailored support: such as Rent Protection Insurance, and recommended utilities providers (from which agents can earn commission-based revenue).

The firm expects to see sustained interest in its proptech services in 2021, so its expanding team is poised to support this growth.

Simon Tillyer, director of Vouch, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have grown my team so significantly over this period.

“Our industry has faced a range of challenges this year, and as our circumstances continue to change, our talented team is ready to provide that extra support needed to not only meet our clients evolving needs, but also help mitigate against any future challenges that may lay ahead for them.

“Our huge success over this period couldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our team.

“We’ve poured our efforts into growing our team meaningfully this year, and I’m proud to retain the fact that we’re staffed entirely by people from Sheffield, where we were founded and remain headquartered today.

“Aside from setting us apart from others in the proptech industry, our strong roots serve as a perfect example of the innovation coming out of the North.

“No matter how large our headcount grows, I’m confident that we will always remain an incredibly human-centred company.”
