Brothers to bring bar and music venue to city centre

Musical brothers, George and Jimmy Craig, who found fame as band, One Night Only, are opening their newest branch of their rock-and-roll bar, Jimmy’s, in Low Petergate, York.

Jimmy’s currently has branches in Manchester and Liverpool, and the new bar, restaurant, and music venue, which is replacing the old Café Rouge restaurant, will be home to the company’s latest venue, and first ever beer garden.

The independent chain, run by the Helmsley-born duo, has signed a 15-year lease on the distinctive listed building near to York Minster, and will create 15 new jobs in the area, as well as collaborate with local musicians, artists, poets and other creatives as it hosts events in the future.

York-based solicitors, Langleys, advised on the deal, including the purchase of fixtures and fittings from the administrators of Café Rouge and the surrender of the old lease.

Tim Cross, managing partner at Langleys, said: “Our involvement in bringing the Jimmy’s brand and bar back home to York has been wonderful.

“It is a great show of confidence to see independent hospitality businesses planning growth despite how difficult the past year has been on the industry.

“The venue is going to be a fantastic addition to York’s social scene once restrictions are lifted and we can’t wait to visit.”
