Work to begin next month on £5.2m housing scheme

A development of 41 affordable homes is to be constructed in a village outside Doncaster.

Energy and regeneration specialist ENGIE has been appointed by Ongo Homes Ltd, to create the scheme in Dunscroft, near Hatfield.

The £5.2m development, on Broadwater Drive, will feature a mixture of houses, bungalows and dormer bungalows, ranging from two to three bedrooms.

The homes will be spread across two sites, linked by a landscaped area and all properties will be available for rent through Ongo Homes.

Each home on the estate will have an electric vehicle (EV) charging point to help families to reduce their carbon footprint and consider an electric vehicle.

Sean Corcoran, regional director at ENGIE, said: “We are excited to begin work on creating these high quality affordable homes, which are so in demand in the area.

“We are especially pleased that the development’s future residents will be able to benefit from the EV chargers, which should go some way to making electric vehicles more accessible to local families, as well as helping them to reduce their carbon footprint.

“Supporting our partners to make zero carbon happen is a priority for ENGIE, so it’s great that we can do that right here in Doncaster.”

Martin Philips, development manager at Ongo, said: “We’re delighted to be building even more homes in the Doncaster area, as we understand the high demand for properties of this type.

“It’s great that not only are they going to be finished to a modern standard, we can also offer additional features like EV charging points, which reflects our commitment to be as environmentally friendly as possible.

“We can’t wait to see these homes take shape and cannot wait to update you all as it progresses.”

Construction is due to begin in April of this year, with an expected completion date of March 2022.
