Land purchase will allow for development of 70 more homes

Mixed-tenure developer, Countryside, has completed the acquisition of 6.83 acres of land in Thorpe Willoughby, Selby, where it is set to build 70 affordable homes in partnership with a registered provider.

The deal is the latest in a succession of land purchases for Countryside since it launched in Yorkshire in 2019. The parcel of land, located at Field Lane in Thorpe Willoughby, has been bought from JSR Farms Ltd.

The development will comprise 22 two-bedroom and 48 three-bedroom homes, which will be available for affordable rent and shared ownership with Karbon Homes.

Chris Penn, managing director, Partnerships Yorkshire, said: “Since launching in Yorkshire in 2019, we have continually fulfilled a commitment to bring a diverse range of high-quality new homes to the region.

“Ensuring a robust supply of affordable housing is a huge priority for us and our housing association partners. We will spend the coming months working with our Registered Provider partner to ensure the new community we create will serve the needs of local people.”

Countryside’s presence in Yorkshire and the North East includes the recently launched Bella Wood View in Goldthorpe and Siskin Park in Wynyard.

The company was also recently appointed by Homes England to build 200 new homes in Harrogate, 60 of which will be available for affordable rent and shared ownership.
