Green light given for 72-bed care home

Care home operator, New Care, has received planning permission to deliver a purpose-built facility on Otley Road in Guiseley.

The £12m 72-bed care home will be on the site of the redundant Richmond Garage, which New Care has now acquired.

It will feature fully furnished bedrooms, complete with private ensuite wet rooms, communal lounges and dining rooms, spa assisted bathrooms, a hair salon, nail bar and landscaped gardens.

Part of Manchester-based the McGoff Group, New Care’s sister company, McGoff Construction, will begin building later this year.

Chief operating officer at New Care, Cath Fairhurst, said: “It is wonderful to receive planning permission for this essential new care facility in Guiseley.

“It was a delegated decision made possible only by the overall quality of the submission, which we worked extremely hard on and very closely with the local planning authority to get it exactly right.

“The care facility’s design perfectly suits the setting, making a positive contribution to the existing character of the Guiseley Conservation Area.

“With the care crisis continuing to escalate across the UK, we remain committed to bringing our award-winning facilities to areas where there is an established need and we look forward to getting started on site in Guiseley.”

New Care collaborated with law firm Beyond Corporate on the land acquisition deal.

Owen McKenna, real estate partner at the firm, said: “It was great to once again work alongside the experienced team at New Care in securing the site for what is another much needed, modern care home development – particularly as purpose-built care homes represent a small percentage of the available beds for long-term care.

“We have worked with New Care since its inception, and within the last 12 months have secured another six sites for them, with more in the pipeline.

“We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with New Care and congratulate them on this very positive outcome.”
