5,000 sq ft new premises for retailer

Bensons for Beds is moving into a new store in Sheffield as part of the retailer’s transformation following £25m worth of new investment a year ago.

The bed and mattress seller has taken a lease at Unit 18, Drakehouse Retail Park, Waterthorpe, Sheffield, where neighbours include Carpetright, Currys PC World and SCS.

The store will employ five staff and opens on 10 September. To mark the opening, Bensons will roll out its purple carpet on Saturday 11 September.

It has moved a few yards from its previous location at Drakehouse Retail Park which it had shared with Harveys until June last year when Bensons became a standalone company.

At nearly 5,000 sq ft, the latest store is better suited to showcasing its range of beds and mattresses from brands including Slumberland, iGel, Tempur and Sealy.

Bensons’ managing director for retail, Alan Williams, said: “The new store will allow us to display our best ranges more effectively and make sure our customers in Sheffield make the right choice.”

The store will be run by manager Chris Carney, who has been with the business for 20 years at stores including Rotherham and Sheffield.
