People: MAC Construction Consultants; NatWest; RWO; and more

Construction consultancy MAC has appointed Nick Fenwick as an associate director. 

He brings more than 20 years sector experience working for established commercial property consultancies focus on the retail office on the retail, office and industrial sectors.

Based in Leeds, he joins the firm’s growing Building Consultancy team – delivering commercial support and building surveying services on client real estate and also projects throughout the planning, development, construction and post-construction.

His wealth of expertise is primarily focussed on dilapidations and other core building surveying services such as party wall matters, defect analysis, pre-acquisition surveys, reinstatement cost assessments and planned maintenance programmes.

Fenwick is a qualified Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS). He joins from WPL Consulting LLP where he worked for five years within the Building Consultancy team.

NatWest has appointed Charlie Tunnard to the role of local enterprise manager for the South Yorkshire region.

He will serve as a local connector for area SMEs working with local communities to support entrepreneurs and businesses develop and grow.

This involves signposting to local activities as well as NatWest programmes such as Business Builder – a tailored support programme for new and early-stage businesses looking to grow.

Tunnard has more than 10 years experience of working in the banking and finance sector. Most recently he has worked as a branch manager at NatWest’s Sheffield City Centre branch. He also has a Professional Banker Certificate from the Chartered Banker Institute.

He said: “Starting up a business and being an entrepreneur can be a lonely world, and I am there to create that support channel as I will be working alongside local businesses and wider ecosystem.

“We know there are some great services and programmes available across South Yorkshire, and I want to create partnerships across the area which enable businesses to succeed.”

A Leeds firm of engineers has appointed a senior executive to oversee the continued development and expansion of its structural engineering operations.

Ganesh Thapa joins RWO as head of the structures team in Leeds.

He  will work alongside the senior management team at the Park Place-based firm on planned strategic growth, new business development, account management, and developing a team of engineers and technical specialists.

A chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a lecturer for the IStructEMember Examination course (Yorkshire Branch), he will also be involved in staff training, technical compliance for designs and pushing forward with workflows across frontline operations.

Bringing more than 30 years’ experience working on a variety of engineering projects to the role, Thapa has extensive expertise in managing, leading and delivering multi-million pound construction schemes in the commercial, industrial and education and sports and leisure sectors.

His appointment comes as RWO has more than doubled capacity in 2021 following investment in resources and infrastructure to meet strong demand for its services.

Currently employing 30 people and targeting revenues in excess of £2.5m in the next 12 months, clients include Yorkshire-based industrial construction companies Lindum Developments and ESH alongside regional house builders Gleeson Home and Countryside Properties.

Multitask Personnel, a Rotherham-based specialist recruitment consultancy, has appointed a new recruitment consultant as it continues to strengthen its business support team.

Wensdy McMillan joins the company after previous roles within recruitment and management to work alongside the company’s Business Support Division.

She will be finding and attracting the right candidates for roles and clients as well as looking after some of the firm’s key account customers, ensuring their recruitment requirements are fulfilled whilst delivering excellent service.

She said: “I am delighted to have joined the team, working with likeminded and supportive people.

“Prior to my post here, I have worked within customer services in contact centres which lead to management roles. At this point I decided to complete my level 3 in CIPD so I could take my first step into recruitment.
