Kitchen worktop supplier is acquired by Howdens
Yorkshire-based Howdens has acquired Sheridan Fabrications, which is the UK’s largest supplier of luxury kitchen worktops.
Sheridan makes and installs premium solid surface worktops and employs about 200 people at its manufacturing facility in Normanton, West Yorkshire.
The acquisition is designed to support Howdens’ trade-only model and expansion into the higher-priced kitchen segment.
And the deal is also intended to further increase Howdens’ in-house manufacturing capacity.
John Blackburn, managing director of Sheridan, will remain with the business to share his expertise.
Andrew Livingston, CEO of Howdens, which has a factory in East Yorkshire and depots across the region, said: “The acquisition of Sheridan gives us significant additional capacity and experience in the solid surface business.
“We have worked closely with Sheridan for many years and we are delighted to welcome them to Howdens.
“They are a trusted partner and great fit with our existing capabilities and we are excited about the significant growth opportunities that lie ahead.”
