IT group buys security consultancy

Managed services provider Redcentric has bought a Scottish security consultancy to extend its portfolio of services in the security market.

Edinburgh-based 7 Elements has joined the group in a deal worth up to £2.4m. The £1m-turnover business provides security testing, incident response management and bespoke security consultancy services.

The acquisition “significantly enhances” Redcentric’s offer with additional capability within the increasingly-important security market.

Redcentric chief executive Peter Brotherton said: “The addition of its services to Redcentric’s existing DDOS, SIEM, managed WAF and information security consultancy services means we are now able to offer a complete portfolio of security services to our customers.”

The deal was for a £1.95m cash payment with a further £450,000 based on the performance over the next 13 months.

7 Elements will continue to operate as a standalone business and be led by its founder David Stubley, who started the business in 2010.
