Westlife star to perform at Yorkshire tennis event

Next month will see Westlife star Brian McFadden serve up a treat at the return of the much-loved Berry’s Tennis event, at Hazlewood Castle, Leeds.

The Berry’s event, which has become a who’s who of Yorkshire business and society, returns after a two year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sponsored by the luxury jeweler Berry’s, guests are treated to glamorous surroundings, high-end shopping pop ups and of course the opportunity to observe world-class tennis with a host of big-name legends from the game taking to the court from Wednesday 22nd to Friday 24th June.

Former Wimbledon winner Richard Krajicek will be returning to play in the event, alongside three-time Masters titles winner Thomas Enqvist and the two-time Davis Cup winner Mark Philippoussis.

Krajicek added ‘I’ve had the great privilege of playing at Berry’s in the past and it truly is a lot of fun. I can’t wait to get back out on the court at Hazlewood and meet this year’s guests.”

In addition to the tennis, 2022 sees evening music entertainment, with former Westlife singer Brian McFadden announced as a special guest performer on the evening of Friday 24th June.

Event founder Matt Haycox said: ““After two years away, due to the pandemic, Berry’s Tennis Classic is returning to the Yorkshire social calendar this June.

“Guests can expect to enjoy tennis legends playing exhibition matches on our grass court, all while sipping champagne in the intimate surroundings of Hazlewood Castle.

“Demand has never been higher from people getting in touch and buying tickets as soon as we hinted it could be back on, and we’re very close to selling out already.

“As always, it’s the special Berry’s Tennis ‘garden party’ atmosphere that makes this the most unique sporting society event in the North, and we can’t wait to see everyone again.”

McFadden who has toured the world with Westlife said: “I’m thrilled to be able to play at Berry’s this year. My fiancée, Dani, has attended as a guest in the past and she absolutely loved it, so it’s a great honour to be able to take to the stage and have a party with the guests this year!”
