Yorkshire Post business editor to leave

Mark Casci the current head of business and features at the Yorkshire Post is leaving to take up a new post in August with West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.

Casci will join the chamber as its head of business representation and policy, taking over from Mark Goldstone who announced his departure earlier this year.

In a statement the chamber said: “During his career Mark has become a well-connected and trusted figure in the county’s business community, having broken dozens of stories about the region’s economy. Mark brings with him an enthusiasm and deep-rooted passion for Yorkshire business and its people.”

Casci, who started out at the paper 14 years ago as rural affairs correspondent has since served as news editor and business editor, said: “I have constantly said throughout my career that Yorkshire is home to a world-class business community, encompassing everything from cutting edge manufacturing, professional services and tech firms.

“With inflation, the disruption caused by the pandemic and the urgent need to improve skill levels and productivity, the economy faces its share of challenges but I am convinced the Chamber is ideally suited to be the convening space where these issues are faced and resolved.

“I am massively grateful to the board for offering me the role. I must pay tribute to Mark Goldstone who is leaving me massive shoes to fill. His contribution to the region’s economy and people is a superb legacy and one I am proud and humbled to inherit.

“I cannot wait to start the new role and will be giving it my all to make Yorkshire the most attractive place to do business in the nation.”

Chair of the West & North Yorkshire Chamber, Amanda Beresford, added: “I am delighted Mark is joining us, he will be a great addition to our team. Mark’s skills, knowledge of and commitment to the region will be invaluable in helping us to connect, support and represent business in the area.”
