Trans-Pennine acquisition for care sector supplier

South Yorkshire-based Countrywide Healthcare Supplies has acquired B&M Supplies, based in Southport.

Countrywide Healthcare is a supplier to the care sector, and has provided specialist service and products to care homes across the UK for over 25 years.

Richard Hannah, the company’s finance director, said: “We have experienced unprecedented sales growth in the last few years and with the move to our new National Distribution Centre & Head Office, the timing was right to look at acquisition targets.

“B&M Supplies operate in the same care home sector and with their owner Derek wishing to retire, it was an excellent fit for both parties”.

Sarah Robinson, managing director, said: “By combining our two like-minded cultures, and by building on both of our companies’ strong commitment to serving our customers, B&M’s clients will be in safe hands in the future.”

Derek Aspinwall, the longstanding owner of B&M Supplies, added: “Our goal has always been to support our customers, making sure they have the best products at competitive prices, combined with an excellent customer service.

“Countrywide Healthcare are one of the largest suppliers to the care sector in the UK and like us have a strong customer service ethic, so the service will improve with a wider range of products and continued keen prices.”

Aspinwall will be working with the Countrywide team over the next few months to ensure a seamless handover.
