Contract wins propel revenue rise at interior design specialist

York and Newcastle-based commercial interior design firm, Ben Johnson Interiors, has reported record growth in revenue for its 2021 year-end, with a 74% lift in turnover.

Following a number of substantial client project wins with companies such as Shark Ninja, West Barn Co, Keepmoat Homes, Transdev and Circus PPC, the company has almost doubled annual revenue and is set for continued record growth this year.

Ben Johnson Interiors director, Emma Dodsley, said: “We’ve been part of some brilliant projects over the past year and were fortunate to be consistently working on projects safely throughout restrictions, ensuring our clients had stunning new workspaces to return to that meet the ever-evolving needs of their employees post-pandemic.

“The way we all wish to work has changed fundamentally and some of our recent projects have been a testament to this, with more focus on collaborative workspaces that better facilitate hybrid-working and cater to varying working styles.

“We’ve also seen an increase in clients looking to give their workplaces a stylish overhaul with a ‘coffee shop’ aesthetic, which again is a concept rooted in the changing way we’re all working nowadays, post-COVID.”

The commercial interiors specialist has also increased headcount by 18% and taken on a new 2,000 sq ft York office, recently transformed by its own team.

Its staff are currently working on a range of projects, including appliance brand Shark Ninja’s upcoming new base at Battersea Power Station, along with multiple sites for Yorkshire-based transport company, Transdev.

Dodsley added: “We’re seeing an influx of new enquiries from businesses looking to adapt their workspaces and it’s fantastic to be out and about again, meeting new and existing clients and visiting our exciting projects in progress.”
