Law practice to expand its corporate team as deals surge past £1bn mark
National law firm Mills & Reeve is expanding its Leeds corporate team after it secured several new clients and advised on deals worth more than £1bn over the last 12 months.
Among the high-profile wins is private equity giant, CVC Capital Partners. The team has advised CVC on several deals in the holiday park sector including the acquisition of Away Resorts and its subsequent merger with Aria Resorts to create a £600m staycation giant.
Elsewhere, the team advised a national healthcare business on a £100m-plus acquisition and acted on many deals in its key sectors including waste management and recycling, food and agribusiness, healthcare and insurance, securing several new UK and international clients.
The multi-lingual team has also completed transactions across various jurisdictions including Europe, Asia and the US.
The last 12 months has seen a surge in cross-border technology sector deals completed by the Leeds team.
Later this year, the office will once again join forces with TheBusinessdesk.com to launch the Yorkshire Top Tech, which celebrates the region’s most cutting-edge and innovative technology companies that are putting Yorkshire on the map as a growing hub for technological development.
Paul Johnson, corporate partner and head of the Leeds office, said the business is looking to recruit at partner and solicitor level with a view to strengthening its leading position in the Yorkshire mid-market.
He added: “Our client base has grown rapidly over the last 12 months, particularly in our target sectors and we’ve completed several £100m-plus transactions.
“We have more than £400m worth of deals in the pipeline and are actively seeking lawyers at all levels to join our growing team to help clients achieve their ambitious expansion plans whether through acquisition, merger or raising funds.”
