Scandinavian homeware retailer launches latest store as it grows UK presence

Danish retailer, JYSK, is continuing with its plans to expand in the UK by opening a new store on 29 September in Barnsley.

It be situated at Unit 2, Wombwell Lane Retail Park, and is to be managed by Matt White.

The concept store will feature about 13,000 sq ft of floor space. It will stock “Scandichic” homeware and create another 12 jobs.

JYSK is an international chain of stores with Scandinavian roots that sells everything for the home.

White said: “We are so pleased to be bringing JYSK to Barnsley this September and expanding our store
presence in Yorkshire for local shoppers.

“The Barnsley Retail Park store will mean local shoppers can access our brilliant sameday click and collect service easily as well as enjoying our exclusive instore lines.

“JYSK prides itself on its instore visual merchandising and Barnsley is no different, so we’re really looking forward to the locals of Barnsley and surrounding areas experiencing it themselves.”

The retailer has set itself a goal of having 5,000 stores worldwide. JYSK Barnsley will join a total of 26 UK stores for the chain so far, with more British store openings planned for later on in 2022.

JYSK has seen record results from the financial year 2021/2022, with its total turnover increasing by 11% to 36.2bn Danish Krone (£4.3bn).
