£60m worth of refurbishment work secured by contractor
Contractor, Esh Construction, is set to deliver more than £60m worth of refurbishment work for registered social housing providers following a series of contract awards.
Clients including Thirteen Group, Broadacres Housing Association and Riverside have appointed Esh to deliver refurbishment and upgrade works to housing stock across North Yorkshire, the North East and Tees Valley.
The Leeds and Durham-based firm has secured a place on Thirteen’s Capital Delivery Framework, which will see £50m worth of home improvements delivered throughout the next five years. The framework is part of Thirteen’s £150m home investment programme.

In North Yorkshire, Esh is set to start work on a five-year kitchen and bathroom programme for Broadacres Housing Association, marking the first refurbishment contract with Broadacres in 14 years.
More than 1,300 properties will benefit from the work undertaken.
A retirement living investment programme for Riverside adds to the pipeline, which will see Esh refurbish two occupied residential developments.
The first scheme is located in South Shields and will include the installation of bathrooms, mechanical and electrical works, and refurbishment of communal areas.
The first project to get underway via Thirteen’s Capital Delivery Framework is the £5.9m Holmes V project, with another four in the pipeline for the coming months.
Modernisation works will be delivered in more than 400 homes across the estate in Thornaby with residents benefitting from new kitchens, electrical rewires and boilers.
In the final quarter of 2022, Esh Construction strengthened its offering for registered housing providers with the launch of a brand-new retrofit solutions division.
The delivery arm specialises in delivering an all-inclusive approach to retrofit delivery to improve the energy efficiency of existing homes and enable providers to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) banding of C and above across its portfolio – a Government requirement for all social housing by 2030.
