Record growth for third consecutive year at business advisory firm

Business advisory and accounts firm, Fortus, has achieved a third successive year of growth.
The company, which has bases in Leeds, York and Scarborough, saw overall revenues rise to over £4m in the financial year ended March 31 2023, driven by continued double digit growth from its core service lines, including tax, accounts and outsourcing and business services, alongside growing client numbers.
Headcount also increased to 70, with new employees joining at all levels of the business over the past 12 months.
This includes apprentices, with the firm now having over 11 professionals in its leading training and development programme.
In addition, Fortus made a number of notable new hires including Dom Marley, head of wealth management, who joined the company with more than 25 years of experience in the wealth sector to launch its new wealth management service, and Zoe Waring as people manager, who is now responsible for developing the firm’s People Strategy.
Alongside business growth, Fortus has demonstrated its commitment to the community by supporting local sports clubs.
It became the main shirt sponsor for York Rugby League’s York Knights team and major sponsor of York Valkyrie, whilst also backing Scarborough Athletic FC by being the named sponsor of the South Stand ‘The Shed’.
News of the business’s growth follows the recent confirmation of a business reorganisation designed to focus on the key markets of the North of England and Scotland.
Craig Herbert
The restructure, with a refreshed executive board headed by chief executive Craig Herbert, saw Fortus’s Midlands and East regions join business services firm TC Group.
Herbert, said: “Over the past 12 months, we have enjoyed remarkable success and have been able to deliver on our growth targets, even as we navigate the similar economic challenges as our clients.
“It’s an exciting time for Fortus as we go from strength-to-strength, with a string of notable hires and the introduction of our new wealth management offering.
“Looking ahead we’re confident we’ll achieve significant growth in our next financial year, with forecasts predicting revenues will increase by up to 50% in 2024.
“This is all testament to the amazing work from our dedicated team who are supporting the North’s ambitious entrepreneurs and business owners with expert advice, on every step of their business journey.”
