160 more homes to be built in town

The Yorkshire division of national homebuilder, Bellway Homes says its new 160-home Penny Way development in Snaith will boost the local economy and create jobs.

To be built just off Pontefract Road, and with direct access to Snaith town centre, the development takes the total number of Bellway developments in the Yorkshire region to 13.

Philip Logue, Bellway Yorkshire’s senior land manager, said: “New housing developments bring significant economic benefits to local communities, a fact that is quite often overlooked.

“Penny Way will create in the region of 30 new jobs during the construction phase, and when sales commence and people start moving-in they will bring new money into the area and spend it locally, which will provide a boost for local businesses.”

Bellway will be contributing £278,640 in accordance with a Section 106 agreement.

This includes £260,000 in educational contributions and £18,000 in off-site road improvements. As part of the S106 Bellway will also be delivering 32 properties on site as affordable housing.

Sales director Melanie Smith added: “When planning to develop anywhere our aim isn’t simply to build houses. We’re here to create homes and communities that people will love in an environment they’ll be proud to call home.

“The plans for Penny Way certainly demonstrate this aim, and I look forward to seeing this new addition to Snaith growing into a much-loved part of the local community.”

The development is intended to appeal to first time buyers through to growing families and downsizers. It will feature a variety of designs and includes two, three and four-bedroom homes.
