Administration on the cards for steel fabrication company

A Sherburn in Elmet-based steel fabrication business has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

SH Structures Ltd, which employs about 70 workers and has been trading for more than 30 years, intends to appoint Andrew Mackenzie and Louise Longley of Begbies Traynor. Options will be explored and a buyer sought for the business.

The firm, which operates from Moor Lane Trading Estate, has suffered from losses sustained on various contracts, along with a gap in production scheduling due to projects being delayed.

SH Structures designs, supplies, manufactures and installs complex steel structures.

According to its latest available accounts made up to 28 February 2023, the business owed £2.9m to creditors at the time and had net assets of almost £348,000.
