Administration on the horizon for lighting and interior design retailer

A Leeds-based lighting, home décor and interior design retailer has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.

Dowsing & Reynolds Ltd, which filed the notice through Faleys Solicitors, is based at Hunslet Trading Estate and employed an average of 54 staff in 2023 – down from 63 in 2022 – according to its latest full accounts made up to 31 March 2023.

These same accounts report the business owed creditors over £845,000 and had assets of over £2m.

The business, which also manufactures products, was founded with a team of eight staff in 2012 and established its first store in the Leeds Victoria Quarter in the autumn of 2019.

It has expanded significantly since then, opening a 30,000 sq ft HQ on the outskirts of Leeds in 2021 to accommodate its warehouse and office employees.
