People: Timothy Taylor & Co; Raworths; PBH Rail; and more
The Board of Keighley-based brewery, Timothy Taylor’s, has confirmed the impending retirement in March 2025 of Tim Dewey after 10 years as CEO.
He will be succeeded by Andrew Carter, currently CEO of Chapel Down Group PLC, the English winemaker.
Carter has previously held senior leadership positions in the drinks industry, working on brands including Bombay Sapphire, Penfolds, Chase Vodka, Bacardi, Strongbow, and San Miguel.
Tim Clarke, chairman of Timothy Taylor’s, said: “The Board are extremely grateful to Tim Dewey for all that he has achieved over the past decade, in developing the business through a sustained focus on sales and marketing as well as investment in brewing quality, including the current £9m capital programme at the Knowle Spring Brewery.
“In that time, our leading brand, Landlord, has grown from No 8 in the cask ale market to recently achieving the No 1 position by value in the category.
“We are pleased that he will be succeeded by Andrew Carter, who also has an extensive and proven record in the development of premium drinks brands.”
Carter added: “I am happy to be joining the Timothy Taylor family-owned business at this exciting stage in its history.
“Since 1858 Taylor’s have been producing outstanding quality cask ales and I am looking forward to tackling the category challenges and building the position of Timothy Taylor’s as the number one cask ale brand in the UK.
“Tim has done an excellent job, supported by a strong leadership team and Board. It is going to be great to work with them to create the next chapter in the successful development of the company.”

Harrogate-based Raworths has made a change of leadership at the helm of its Trusts, Wills and Estates (TWE) team.
Partners Alison Walker and Sam Jenner are stepping up to take over as joint heads of the 23-strong team.
Walker’s and Jenner’s promotions will enable the former head of TWE, Rachel Tunnicliffe – who has led the team for a decade – to focus on expanding her other leadership roles as senior partner at the firm and head of private client services.
She will continue to manage her existing portfolio of client work offering specialist legal advice on wills, trusts and succession planning.
Under Tunnicliffe’s guidance, the TWE service has grown to become one of the largest specialist private client teams in Yorkshire – acting for clients both regionally and nationally.
Tunnicliffe said: “On the back of achieving national recognition at the recent Chambers HNW awards – which are solely based on feedback from our clients and contacts – now is the perfect time to hand over the reins.
“Alison and Sam each bring a unique set of skills and knowledge which together make for an inspirational leadership team.
“I’m looking forward to embarking on a new chapter at Raworths, supporting our managing partner, Simon Morris, in my role as senior partner and head of private client services – and continuing to work with my clients, many of whom I’ve advised for more than two decades and who I hope to continue working with for a long time to come.”
Walker, who joined in 2015, advises on all aspects of wills, trusts and wider succession, wealth structuring and tax issues, particularly for business owners.
She has specialist knowledge in the administration of complex estates, with business interests and overseas property.
Jenner, who has been with the firm since 2014, offers a breadth of technical expertise on complex succession planning, administration of estates, family investment companies, wills and tax.
He is also involved in leadership on the firm’s IT projects. Both Jenner and Walker play an instrumental role in mentoring younger members of the team.
Walker said: “I’d like to thank Raworths for this opportunity. Rachel has been an inspirational leader over the last ten years, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work alongside Sam to oversee the future direction of the team, whilst providing the very best service to our clients.”
Jenner added: “I have really enjoyed mentoring junior team members and as joint head of TWE, I hope to play an even bigger role in the development of the next generation of talented lawyers.
“Raworths has a special culture that places value on building relationships, as a team within the firm and with our clients and referrers.”

York-based consultancy, PBH Rail, is continuing its expansion with another new addition.
Liane Kesley has joined the company as a compliance assistant, bringing a wealth of experience from the construction and oil sectors.
She joins from OneSubsea, where she spent two years as tender co-ordinator for Oil & Gas.
At PBH Rail, she will be instrumental in ensuring all training requirements across the business are current and assist in preparing the company for compulsory compliance audits, including, Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS), and ISO 45001.
Holding an NVQ qualification in Business and Administration, her career path originally saw her train and qualify as a dental nurse.
After six years, she transferred her attention to detail and organisational skills to a new challenge within the construction sector for 10 years before joining OneSubsea.
She said: “I’m incredibly happy to be joining PBH Rail. I’d heard great things about the company, so I was excited when the opportunity came up.
“The team here has been very welcoming, and I have been able to assist in upcoming audit preparation, as well as updating training requirements.”
Mark Bonner, managing director, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Liane to our team. She joins us at a very exciting time for the business, with the launch of our new Civils division, which has led to growth and new opportunities.
“Liane’s meticulous organisational skills and commitment to compliance will underpin our operational efficiency and help us to uphold our standards and continue to deliver the best service in rail infrastructure.”
PBH Rail Group was established in 2003, working exclusively on rail projects for clients across the UK and internationally.
Following a successful year in 2023, which saw the group’s annual turnover increase by 10% to £11m, the company introduced a new Civils division in May to sit alongside the existing Survey, overhead line equipment services (OLE), and Permanent Way teams.
The introduction of the Civils division has paved the way for new appointments, including Gary Robson, managing director of Civils, and most recently Lin Lee, who joined PBH last month as principal geotechnical engineer alongside Steve Scott, who joins the new division as technical director.
