Government-backed collaboration is delivering 135 homes

Social housing provider, WDH, has partnered with national house builder Taylor Wimpey to provide 135 new homes in Rotherham.
Constructed by Taylor Wimpey, the partnership is the first of its kind with the national home builder being contracted to provide all the homes exclusively for WDH.
The development, off Kilnhurst Road in Rawmarsh, will provide homes for a mix of affordable rent, rent to buy and shared ownership, managed by WDH.
The project has been made possible through access to grant funding from a Strategic Partnership with Homes England, the Government’s housing and regeneration agency.
Sue Young, executive director of Investment at WDH, said: “This development and new partnership is a fantastic opportunity to provide more affordable housing options for the local community and support a new neighbourhood to thrive.
“This is also an exciting step as part of our wider plans to develop and manage over 300 affordable homes in Rotherham over the next three years.”
Jo Ainsley, managing director at Taylor Wimpey Yorkshire, from Taylor Wimpey, said: “We recognise that stepping onto the property ladder is difficult for many people and providing affordable homes is essential to help overcome this.
“We’re proud to be working with WDH on this exciting partnership which we hope will help more people to live in their own homes.
“We’re really excited to see the development taking shape and it will be wonderful to see this new community in Rawmarsh grow.”
Ben McLaughlin, senior manager of affordable housing delivery at Homes England, added: “We are committed to supporting our partners to increase the supply of quality affordable housing in the communities where they’re needed most.
“Utilising grant provided by Homes England’s Affordable Homes Programme 2021-26, WDH have been able to pursue a new way of working with one of countries largest housebuilders.
“This a fantastic example of how this collaborative way of working can provide much needed, energy-efficient, high-quality affordable homes in Rotherham.”
The development is expected to be fully complete in summer 2026.
