Flexible workspace operator unveils private hire cinema
As part of ambitious expansion plans, Department at Leeds Dock has opened a boutique private hire cinema and a suite of new offices at the waterside workspace.
Since opening in the former casino in February 2023, Level 1 and the mezzanine workspaces of Department are now largely occupied.
Level 2 of the four-storey building opens this autumn, offering 3,860 sq ft of more private offices and meeting rooms, a content creators suite, podcast facilities, and social areas including phone booths, event space with a bar and the private cinema.
The cinema has a capacity of 38 to 60 with flexible seating arrangements, from plush sofas to theatre-style event seating and a screen with surround sound system. The venue costs £100 per hour to hire or £700 for a full day.
Department’s general manager, Amy Matthams, said: “The new cinema is an amazing addition to the new Level 2 of Department, giving a unique backdrop for presentations, speaker events or brand launches.
“It’s also an ideal space for businesses looking for a different kind of party venue this Christmas.
“Our range of fantastic spaces and vibrant location at Leeds Dock means we have the flexibility and capability to make events unique and exciting at Department.”
Department Leeds Dock is a flexible workspace operator with coworking, private offices and creative studios across Leeds and Manchester.
It is now home to over 60 businesses in the creative, digital and tech industries, from small start-ups to larger, established businesses including Glean, Bobble Digital, Airborne Studios, CRSI, We Love This and Retail Insight.
